The Assessor’s Department is responsible for accurately determining the value of all real and personal property located within the City of Malden for the purpose of taxation. Assessors are required to assess all property at its full and fair market value as of January 1st each year. To accomplish this goal, the Assessor's Department gathers pertinent property characteristics for each parcel of property and uses this information to build appropriate valuation schedules for various classes of property. The Assessor's Department is responsible for the administration of all property tax data records and maintains accurate parcel ownership data based upon recorded property transactions at the Registry of Deeds. They also administer tax billing for the motor vehicle excise tax, statutory exemptions and abatements.
