Board of Assessors

The Board of Assessors is required under Massachusetts General Laws to list and value all real and personal property in the City for purposes of taxation. It is obligated to assess property at its "full and fair cash value," or what the property would sell for if it were offered for sale on the open market. Values prepared by the Board of Assessors are submitted to the Massachusetts Department of Revenue for certification once every three years.
