The mission of the Emergency Management Department is to plan for and train to mitigate all hazards that could affect the lives of our residents, the education of our children, the furtherance of industry and commerce and the preservation of property.

Current planning efforts include shelter management, natural disaster planning, mitigation and recovery, planning emergency response to hazardous material accidents, emergency dispensing site activation, Emergency Response Team formation and public education around various issues related to how the public can protect themselves through prior planning.

 Please take a moment to visit the Malden Police Department website to ensure you and your family are notified by your local emergency response team in the event of emergency situations or critical community alerts. Examples include: evacuation notices, bio-terrorism alerts, boil water notices, and missing child reports. No one should automatically assume his or her phone number is included. All businesses should register, as well as all individuals who have unlisted phone numbers, who have changed their phone number or address within the last year, and who use a cellular phone as their primary home phone. Email and text messaging options are also available.
