Youth and Recreation – The Mayor and City Council have allocated funds to be managed by the Human Services Department which allows disbursement of funds to sports programs and leagues in the City to supplement the admission costs of players and participants. Hockey, baseball, soccer, lacrosse, girls' softball and Pop Warner are all organizations supported by these funds. All disbursements are made to vendors of the organizations, never the organizations themselves. For more information, call Jeanne L. Benoit.
Park schedules are maintained by and permits for park use are granted by calling Bob Rotondi (781) 322-1112.
Summer Youth Employment Program – Each year money is set aside to provide jobs for school age youth. Malden residents between the ages of 15 and 24 may apply through the Human Services Department. Some years additional grants funds may be awarded to provide employment to the City’s youth. Most of the positions start early July and run through late August. The pay scale is usually minimum wage and the youth are paid through the City’s payroll department on a weekly basis. Each fund has specific guidelines for acceptance.
