As the Chief Executive Officer of the City of Malden, Mayor Christenson oversees a budget of $155 million and a staff of 1,300 employees across a variety of departments. The Mayor also serves as Chairperson of the Malden School Committee. Elected in November 2011, Mayor Christenson was sworn in January 2, 2012 to serve Malden's diverse population in a four year term. The Mayor and his staff respond to resident inquiries and issues concerning all aspects of City government. Among the Mayor’s goals for Malden are increased communication with Malden's diverse population about the activities of City government, utilizing technology to provide more efficient and improved service to the public, customer friendly delivery of services to constituents, excellence in education, quality public safety, and the revitalization of downtown Malden.
