Mayor's Problem Properties Unit

Together we can work to make our neighborhoods safe and clean.

Mayor Gary Christenson formed the Problem Properties Unit (“Unit”) to address the nuisance properties in our neighborhoods, including illegal rooming houses; vacant and abandoned properties; and, properties with a history of public safety complaints and code violations. The Mayor chairs the Unit and it consists of a Malden resident, the City Controller, Compliance Officers, and representatives from the City Council, Fire and Police Departments, Board of Health, Building Department, Legal Department and the Malden Redevelopment Authority.
