The Treasurer's Office prepares and generates all real estate, excise tax and water-sewer bills as well as late notices for parking tickets. This department also collects, processes, safeguards and invests all money paid to the City. In addition to those items mentioned above, we collect all money mailed or wired to the City by Federal or State government agencies, various fees paid by individuals and corporations and permits and fines.
We accept cash, checks or money orders for payment. We do not accept credit card payments at the office or over the phone. You may pay your current real estate, excise tax and water-sewer and bills online.

Real Estate Tax

Real estate taxes are billed quarterly. The yearly taxes are based on the fiscal year (July 1st through June 30th). The billing schedule is as follows:

Personal Property Tax

Personal property tax bills are due quarterly. The yearly taxes are based on the fiscal year (July 1st through June 30th). The billing schedule is as follows:

Excise Tax
-
Excise tax payments are due 30 days from the original date of the bill, after which, a demand bill will be sent out with interest and penalty. Excise tax demand bills are due 14 days from the date af issue.

Bills that are more than 45 days past due are marked at the registry for non-renewal, sent to the Deputy Collector and must be paid to Kelley & Ryan/P.F.Ryan, Deputy of collections. You may reach the Deputy of collections at (800) 491-9788.

Water-Sewer Bills

Water-Sewer bills are sent out monthly and are due on the 25th of every month. Every November, outstanding balances on accounts that are more than 30 days past due are placed as a water-sewer lien onto the real estate tax bill attached to that property.

Parking Tickets

Payments, along with any written requests for a hearing with the parking clerk in order to dispute a parking ticket, must be received within 21 days of the date of issue of the original ticket.

Once parking tickets are past due, a late notice is sent out with a fee of $5.00 per ticket.

Late notices are due 14 days from the date of the notice, after which all unpaid parking tickets will incur $15.00 fee and subsequently a $25.00 fee and will be marked at the Registry of Motor Vehicles for non-renewal.

All parking tickets that are marked at the Registry must be paid by cash or money order to the City of Malden in order to be released.
