As required, the Malden Water Department works with the MWRA to test water for lead levels in fifteen homes twice per year. During the 2016 sampling period, Malden tested water at households that are likely to have lead components. The March 2016 result was 11 ppb, which is below the Action Level of 15 ppb. The September 2016 result showed the level at 30.9 ppb. The results of this water test indicate that Malden was above the Action Level.
There is no lead in Malden’s water distribution system however, homes can still test high due to lead piping and fixtures that remain. We encourage our residents to learn more about what it means to have lead found in household water.
