Beginning this summer, motorists will no longer have the option to stop at a toll booth and pay cash for their Tobin Bridge toll. Tolls will be collected electronically in one of two ways: either through the motorist’s E-ZPass transponder or via a program in which a camera captures the license plate and the vehicle’s registered owner is billed by mail. In anticipation of the transition, Mayor Gary Christenson, in partnership with Stop & Shop, will be offering residents the opportunity to sign up for a free E-ZPass Transponder. MassDOT will be set up at the Stop & Shop at 99 Charles Street, on Saturday, May 3 and Saturday, May 10 from 1:00-3:00 PM to enroll new customers in the E-ZPass program.
Additionally, motorists may also join E-ZPass online, Mass.gov/EZPassMA or by phone, 877-627-7745. An E-ZPass Customer Service Center is also open at the Square One Mall in Saugus on Route 1 South.
