Malden’s newest time capsule was recently interred in a cornerstone of the brand new police station building located at 800 Eastern Avenue. The watertight, airproof container is roughly the size of a cement cinderblock and will stay buried for at least 100 years. Included in the contents are letters from Mayor Gary Christenson, City Council President Barbara Murphy, and Police Chief Kevin Molis, Advocate newspapers from the ground-breaking and ribbon-cutting ceremonies, brochures from the ribbon cutting, and several photos. A roster of all officers, a police badge, a set of handcuffs and a budget report from the project have also been included. The items are meant to give future generations a snapshot of Malden circa 2016.
