The John and Christina Markey Malden Senior Community Center is located at 7 Washington Street. The Senior Community Center provides programs, services and activities for Malden’s senior population. Exercise programs are in place to increase flexibility and prevent injury, education programs to increase knowledge and understanding of personal health care and entertainment programs to increase socialization and decrease isolation. A wide variety of other programs are offered for the mind, body and spirit, helping seniors live longer, safer and healthier lives in their own community. The Mayor and City Council made this large investment for the community and are committed to keeping it a viable and rich resource.
Effective November 3, 2014, the Malden Senior Community Center partnered with Door to Door Transportation by SCM to provide FREE transportation services to medical appointments and food shopping. To be eligible you must be a City of Malden Resident and at least 60 years of age. The hours of operation are 9:00 AM and 4:00 PM Weekdays, Excluding Holidays. Weekday return rides must be scheduled by 4:00 PM. Reservations can be made up to 2 weeks and no less than 2 days in advance of your appointment.Rides are available on a first-come, first-served basis. Shuttle service to and from the Senior Center is provided Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays. On these days, senior residents can be picked up at their home and taken to the Center to enjoy lunch, attend a movie, play bingo or participate in a number of other activities.
