The parsonage, also known as the Judson House, was built in 1725 and is Malden’s oldest complete house today, sitting on Main Street across from Bell Rock Park.

The Boston Rubber Shoe company plant No. 1, built in 1855, was located in Edgeworth on what is now Commercial Street. Both men and women were employed in the factory, as well as a number of Italian immigrants who attended company-sponsored “Americanization” classes at the plant.

The original Malden High School was a wooden house built in 1872. A new brick high school was built in 1899 and in 1939, the original house was demolished.

The name Malden is believed to have come from Saxon origin and probably meant "the meeting-place hill" or the hill of assembly. The city of Malden, Massachusetts was officially incorporated in 1881 after the seperation of both Melrose (1850) and Everett (1870).
