THE RAILROAD AVENUE COMMUNITY GARDEN
NEEDS YOU!
The city of Malden is developing a community garden along the emerging Northern Strand Community Trail near Railroad Ave. and Bryant Street in Malden’s Ward 5. (See photo and plan of site above)
When complete the garden will have multiple individual garden plots, space for students from Malden Schools to garden and learn about science and horticulture, a large common perennial boarder and a sitting and gathering space. It is hoped that this garden can be the start of many gardens across the city!
A series of free public events and meetings are being planned to kick off the garden building project, starting with a clean up and tour of the Rail Road Ave. garden site on March 24th. This will be followed a few weeks later (DTBD) buy a community meeting and design charrette to refine the design of the garden, organize interested gardeners and community members and develop a plan to manage and maintain the garden.
Keep an eye on Bike to the Sea Inc. Facebook page, Malden Patch and the Malden’s official web site for more information.
