CodeRED Call-Out
Malden will be utilizing the CodeRED Emergency Notification System on April 20, 2012 to call the entire community. This opportunity will provide the City’s emergency personnel the chance to activate the system as if there has been a community wide disaster.
Calling will take place throughout the day and will continue until the entire database has been attempted. The message being delivered will direct recipients to the City of Malden website to add additional contact numbers, and it will ask recipients to further spread the word by mentioning the system to family, friends and neighbors.
“All individuals and businesses should take the time to visit our website to add contact information to include cell phones as well as email and text addresses,” said Mayor Gary Christenson. “If your contact information is not in the database you will not receive a call when an urgent message is sent.” It is particularly important for businesses to register, as well as individuals who have unlisted phone numbers, who have changed their phone number recently, and those who use a cell phone exclusively or have VoIP phones (such as Vonage) as their primary numbers.
Mayor Christenson urges residents to log onto the City of Malden website at www.cityofmalden.org and follow the CodeRED link. Those without Internet access may call Mayor Christenson’s office (781-397-7000) Monday, Wednesday and Thursday from 8:00 AM-4:00 PM, Tuesday from 8:00 AM-7:00 PM and Friday from 8:00 AM-12:00 noon. Required information includes a street address (physical address, no P.O. boxes) for location purposes and a primary phone number. Additional phone numbers, email and text addresses may also be entered.
