Licensing your dog is the law and serves multiple purposes including disease control and prevention, the ability to safely return lost pets to owners and statistics to ensure adequate allocation of resources and improved program management.
With these reasons to license your dog in mind, the Malden City Council has authorized a Dog License Open Enrollment, for the month of May. This open enrollment month will allow residents to license their dogs without having to pay the $25.00 late fee that is required for all dogs not licensed by April 1st of a given year.
Dog licenses can be obtained at the City Clerk’s Office, Room 323, Government Center, 200 Pleasant Street for a fee of $15.00. Applications are also available on-line at: http://www.cityofmalden.org/City-Clerks-Office/
Proof of Rabies vaccination is required at the time of application.
Starting June 1, 2012, any dog owner who fails to license their dog and display this license and rabies tags on a collar or harness worn by their dog will be fined no less than $50.00 per day. Each additional 24 hour period the violation exists will be considered a separate offense.
Please license your dog to ensure a safer community for you and your pet.
