Complete Streets Taskforce
A Task Force has been formed to assist in the development of a Prioritization Plan of possible projects so that the City can pursue funding from MassDOT.

Malden Housing Production Plan Advisory Committee
The City is presently working with the Metropolitan Area Planning Council (MAPC) to develop a 5-year Housing Production Plan (HPP).

Mayor's Advisory Committee on Walkability
In 2012, Mayor Gary Christenson commissioned an Advisory Committee on Walkability in an effort to engage Malden residents on their ideas and creative initiatives to make Malden a top walkable city in Massachusetts.

Open Space & Recreation Committee
In January of 2017, Mayor Gary Christenson announced an 11 member committee to assist the Metropolitan Area Planning Council (MAPC) in updating the City of Malden Open Space and Recreation Plan (OSRP) which was last updated in 2009 and covered the period of 2009 to 2016.

Long-Term Transportation Planning Study Committee
The Malden City Council and Mayor Christenson established the Long-Term Transportation Planning Study Committee in order to review current procedures, services, and projects related to transportation planning and research and recommend best practices that can improve mobility and neighborhood quality of life throughout the City.
