Charter Revision Committee
The City's original charter, granted in 1881, has been amended and or revised numerous times over the last 150 years, making easy access difficult. In 2018, when the City undertook an effort to consolidate these provisions into a single, more usable document, a number of organizational inconsistencies, outdated provisions and operational inefficiencies were revealed. As a result, the Mayor and City Council jointly appointed the Committee on Charter Revision, as an advisory group tasked with proposing a strengthened and modernized charter.

Community Preservation Committee (CPC)
The Community Preservation Act (Massachusetts General Laws chapter 44b, or "CPA") allows local communities to adopt a surcharge on property taxes and receive state matching funds for affordable housing, historic resources, open space and recreation land.

The Commission on Energy Efficiency shall work to create and maintain a healthy community by proposing measurable solutions to reduce the environmental impact of municipal facilities and operations by recommending energy efficient modifications and improvements to proposed and existing facilities.

Historical Commission
The Historical Commission is a local Board appointed by the Mayor. The Commission was established in 1973 as a local historical commission pursuant to M.G.L. Chapter 40 Section 8(d).

Housing Authority
The Malden Housing Authority administers a variety of state and federal housing programs designed to assist low- and moderate-income residents, as well as the community's senior and disabled populations.
