The Animal Control Officer serves as a public safety officer for the City of Malden and responds to all requests for assistance with animals ranging from domestic, wild, dangerous or animals in distress. The Animal Control Officer is also tasked with enforcing state and local laws and ordinances related to the keeping of animals, management of wildlife and animal abuse or neglect.
Animal Lost & Found
If you think your pet is lost or missing, please take the following steps.
- Contact the Malden Police Department at 781-397-7171.
- Submit a Lost or Missing Pet request on our SeeClickFix system. After you submit your request, a notification will be sent to our Animal Control officer but this request will also be publically viewable and shareable so that other residents can possibly help locate the pet.
Spay & Neuter Program
Reduced cost Spay and Neuter Certificates are available at Malden Police Headquarters, 800 Eastern Avenue. These certificates are redeemable at the North Shore Animal Hospital located at 1 Neptune Blvd in Lynn, MA.
Dog licenses are required for all dogs in the City of Malden and must be renewed annually. Failure to license your dog could result in a fine of $50.00 in accordance with Section 9.16 of the Malden City Ordinances.
Bi-annual rabies clinics are held at the Central Fire Station (at Salem and Sprague Streets) each September and April. The fee is $10.00 per dog or cat. Dogs must be on a leash and cats must be in a carrier. Actual clinic dates will be posted in the What’s New section of the City’s website when scheduled.
