North Suburban Consortium
The North Suburban Consortium (NSC) is a group of eight communities that collectively apply for and administer federal HOME funds. The NSC is composed of Arlington, Chelsea, Everett, Malden, Medford, Melrose, Revere, and Winthrop, and is led by Malden. The NSC Board is composed of representatives from each community appointed by the municipality's chief executive.
Developers interested in seeking HOME program financing should contact the representative for the city in which their project is located.
Recent Projects
571 Revere St (Revere)
11 HOME units in a 51-unit 100% affordable project developed by The Neighborhood Developers. The NSC committed $1.2 million for this project.
Downing Square (Arlington)
Housing Corporation of Arlington's 48-unit 100% affordable project includes 11 HOME units, and received $2,570,000 in NSC HOME funds.
1005 Broadway (Chelsea)
This 38-unit 100% affordable project from The Neighborhood Developers includes 11 HOME units. The NSC committed $300,000 to this project.
St. Therese Condos and Townhomes (Everett)
This 100% affordable project from The Neighborhood Developers will build 77 affordable units, including 22 HOME units and at least 33 units reserved for seniors. An additional 6 affordable townhomes will be built at an adjacent parcel, including 3 HOME units. NSC has committed a combined $1.5 million to this project.
54 Eastern Ave (Malden)
This joint development by Metro North Housing and Bread of Life will build 14 affordable units for formerly homeless individuals above a new food pantry for Bread of Life. The NSC has conditionally committed $1.65 million to this project.
Fellsway West II (Medford)
Medford Community Housing will add three units at 703 Fellsway West, all of which are affordable HOME units. NSC has committed $810,000 to this project.
25 Sixth St (Chelsea)
The Neighborhood Developers will build 56 rental units, 6 homeownership units, and various connections to transit at this former industrial site. The NSC has conditionally committed $1,837,415 to the project, which will create 11 HOME rental and 3 HOME homeownership units.
170 Cottage St (Chelsea)
This project from The Neighborhood Developers brings 66 units, including 11 HOME units, to this site next to the Chelsea Greenway. The NSC has conditionally committed $1 million to the project.
