Mass Save

Malden is excited to have been selected to participate in the 2022-2024 Community First Partnership offered by the sponsors of Mass Save.  Mass Save is a collaborative of Massachusetts natural gas, electric utilities and energy efficiency service providers with a mission to help residents and businesses across Massachusetts save money and energy.

The Mass Save initiative helps reduce your energy use and save money by providing you a no-cost Energy Assessment, where an Energy Specialist will review your energy use, look around your home or business, and provide recommendations on how you can save energy. This assessment is available either in-person or virtually (by phone or video chat) and can help you learn about how your home or business can be better insulated against cold weather (also called weatherization), how Mass Save can help you save money on energy efficient appliances and heating / cooling systems, and get a health and safety check of your current heating system. Drafts and air leaks, caused by gaps or holes in a building, can account of up to 30% of a home’s heating and cooling costs—this creates a substantial opportunity for savings by what is called “air sealing,” which is 100% free if the Energy Specialist determines that it is needed.

Some products that can produce immediate energy savings, including programmable thermostats, LED lights, and devices to help you save water, can be mailed directly to you for free after the Energy Assessment.

Whether you’re a renter or homeowner, the weatherization incentives include 75%-100% off the cost of approved insulation in all single family homes or 1-4 unit properties.   Small businesses, nonprofit organizations and houses of worship can receive up to 70% off of the cost of installing approved energy-saving measures and instant discounts on energy efficient products.  Additionally, if you are building a new facility, installing new systems or equipment, or retrofitting an existing facility to be more energy efficient, Mass Save will provide you with expert guidance, recycling services and financial assistance to help you with your project and minimize future energy use.
