The Malden Fire Department, in collaboration with the City’s Engineering Office & Water Department will begin fire hydrant testing and flushing in a number of locations throughout the city (June, July, August and September). If we are testing near your location, you may experience either reduced water pressure or a discoloration of your water that will make it appear brown/yellow. When testing is complete, your water pressure will return to full pressure but you may continue to see discolored water. If this is the case we recommend you run an outside hose spigot (if you have access to one) or an inside cold water faucet for several minutes until the water runs completely clear. If you have any questions about your water service, you can contact the Department of Water Utilities at 781-397-7164 or for more questions about this program, you can contact the Malden Fire Department at 781-397-7164.
