Nearly 30 years after Faces Nightclub in Boston shuttered its doors, the next generation of Martignettis has reprised the name ‘Faces’ for Malden’s newest brewery and restaurant. Brothers Dan, Joe, and Anthony previously ran the successful craft beer bar and bowling alley Lanes & Games in Cambridge. Before making the jump from bowling alley to brewery, the brothers Martignetti added siblings Bob and Julie to the fray. Now, the five siblings have worked together to bring Faces Brewing Co. to Malden Center.
After two years spent restoring Pleasant Street’s First National Bank of Malden to its former glory, the Martignettis debuted the bank-turned-brewery in late May. The space has been beautifully remodeled, and many elements of the former bank have been included in the spacious design. The Martignettis are not acting alone, however - for the kitchen, they tagged Ezra Gold as head chef. The alum of Alden & Harlow and Waypoint crafted a menu of elevated American pub food that pairs flawlessly with the in-house brews. Be sure to drop in for Faces’ weekend brunch, starting July 19th.
On the brewing side, Faces’ beer is spearheaded by the duo of Eddie Ducharme and Danielle Coons. Ducharme, a homebrewer and yeast geneticist, was a childhood friend of the Martignettis, while Coons comes to Faces by way of Geary’s and Lone Pine in Portland, Maine. Their carefully crafted beers are served exclusively at Faces but may be enjoyed from the comfort of your own home, with four-packs of beer to go.
In addition to the restaurant and taproom, Faces Brewing Co. boasts a spacious beer garden at the rear of the building. The beer garden offers a wide array of cocktails and wine, in addition to a rotating list of Faces beers on draft. Due to COVID, Faces is currently open from 4-10 PM Monday-Wednesday; 4-11 PM Thursday & Friday; Noon-11 PM on Saturday; and Noon-5 PM on Sunday.
