[ARCHIVED] City Hall to Reopen with a Modified Schedule by Appointment Only

Throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, City employees have remained steadfastly committed to providing communication and services to our residents. Although our goal of returning to a new “normal” is happening more slowly than we hoped, a bright spot has been the reopening of Pleasant Street and the moving of City employees into their new City Hall building at 215 Pleasant Street. Currently all City Departments with the exception of the City Clerk’s office have moved in. It is anticipated that the Clerk’s office will be moved in by the end of this week.

On June 1st, the City began the first phase of the process of reopening its offices with the return of staff on a limited basis and with staggered schedules. On Monday, August 17th the City will begin Phase 2 of that process. This continues the staggered scheduling of staff, adjustments to accommodate social distancing and a modified schedule.

Effective Monday, August 17th City Hall hours will be modified as follows:

  • Monday, Wednesday and Thursday: 8 AM to 5 PM
  • Tuesday: 8 AM to 7 PM
  • Closed on Friday

For the present time, City Hall will be open to the public by appointment only. Residents are required to continue to conduct business online to the greatest extent possible so as to limit the in-person business to that which must be conducted in person. Meetings will be scheduled only in the event there is city business which cannot be conducted online. Please contact the Department you need directly to schedule an appointment or call 781-397-7000 and follow the prompts.

Members of the public entering the building will be welcomed by a greeter who will confirm their appointment with the department. Contact information of all visitors will be recorded and all who enter the building must be wearing a face covering. Hand sanitizer will be provided to visitors prior to proceeding to the office where they are conducting business.

The City remains grateful for the ongoing support and understanding of residents through this trying time. The hope is to fully reopen as soon as health metrics permit.
