Mayor Gary Christenson and Malden High School Athletic Director Charlie Conefrey welcomed Forestdale School seventh grade student Corynne McNulty and her family to City Hall for a tour of the Mayor’s office following her impressive win at the MIAA (Massachusetts Interscholastic Athletic Association) Girls State Wrestling Championships. The Mayor also presented Corynne with a citation on behalf of the City.
A top student at the Forestdale School, Corynne is well-known for always going above and beyond in her studies and for being a hard-working, highly skilled student athlete. Not only did she win the State Championship in the boys’ division for grades 7 and 8 but this is the first time a 13-year-old Malden student has ever won the State Wrestling Championship at the high school level! Corynne’s hard work and dedication has paid off. She told Mayor Christenson she trains every day, stays focused and hopes one day to make it to the Olympics.
