Kyera Singleton, Executive Director of the Royall House and Slave Quarters in Medford, will present “Telling Uncomfortable Histories: The Enduring Legacy of Slavery and Racism in the North.” Ms. Singleton will address the importance of telling about slavery in the context of “northern history” as well as the legacy of slavery on society today. Prior to Ms. Singleton’s presentation, all registered participants will receive a link to a new 40-minute virtual tour video that gives viewers the chance to virtually explore the Royall House and Slave Quarters, presented by guide Lee Lafleur and created by videographer Shun Liang.
Ms. Singleton is a PhD Candidate at the University of Michigan-Ann Arbor in the Department of American Culture and is on a dissertation completion fellowship in the history department at Harvard University.
